Welcome to the hive! Ultimately, the goal of Type B is to document as many stories of Filipino women and queer experiences. Here’s a submission guide on how to get your work published!

This is a safe space.

Type B is open to submissions from Filipino women and queer people ages 18 and above. These include, but are not limited to, written work (articles, essays, poetry, scripts, case studies, research, policy papers), photography (portraits, landscape, street, events, fashion, life, photo essays), and videography (documentaries, short films, performance recordings, event coverage). Submissions that fall into multiple categories or different formats, such as songs, games, or others, are welcome! Publication treatment will be discussed with every contributor.

As this is an open platform, we understand that not everyone will be comfortable having their names displayed in their submissions. To keep you or your peers safe, you have the option to choose a pseudonym or simply sign anonymously. Rest assured that Type B and a panel of consulting creatives will handle your personal information in utmost confidence.

Note: Interested contributors ages 17 and below may submit their work to Type B provided that a consenting adult (parent, legal guardian, or relative) will supervise their submission process. This is in accordance with the Child and Youth Welfare Code of the Philippines (Presidential Decree No. 603), which states that every child has the right to full opportunities for safe and wholesome recreation and activities.

We commit to treating the creative work of minors with care and respect, ensuring their voices are nurtured responsibly. Written consent from the facilitating adult will be required. Type B will also reach out to the consenting adult to verify approval and clarify any concerns. Submissions from minors will undergo the same evaluation and publication process as those from adult contributors. Minor contributors may also publish under a pseudonym or anonymously to safeguard their privacy.

Begin with the basics.

Every submission requires the following information:

• Name (First name + Last name) and age of contributor/s – for record purposes only
• Preferred byline (Indicate whether to use real name, nickname, pseudonym, artist/collective name, anonymous, etc) – this is how your name will appear in your submission
• Format of submission – written work, photography, videography, etc.
• Contact information – include alternative email address/contact number and Facebook/Instagram details.
• Age and SOGIE disclosure are NOT mandatory. Indication of this in every submission is subject to the contributor’s discretion.

Note: Minor contributors shall submit the same information, alongside name and contact details of their parent/s, legal guardian, or assigned consenting adult.

Format your files.

• Written work – Submit in Microsoft Word or Google Docs, with text in any sans serif font, size 11, single spacing. The title should be in bold. There is no word count limit.
• Photography – Gather in a shareable Google folder, with “TBS – category – first name + last name (e.g., TBS – Written Work – Juana de la Cruz)” as file name. Images must be in either JPG/PNG and no more than 10 MB each in size. Accompanying text must follow the same formatting as written work submissions.
• Videography – Upload your MP4 file in a shareable Google folder, with “TBS – video – first name + last name (e.g., TBS – video – Juana de la Cruz)” as the file name, or upload the video to your YouTube account and attach a shareable link to your submission. Sent MP4 files will be uploaded to Type B’s YouTube account for publishing purposes. No videos will be hosted directly on the website.

• Don’t leave your email body empty! Provide the necessary details here. Backstories and context are encouraged!
• Follow-up questions may be sent after receipt and review of your files.
• Kindly give Type B editor access to your Google Drive folder for easy downloading

All done! To manage expectations, not all submissions are assured of a feature. Kindly give Type B three (3) working days to confirm receipt of your submissions. Should your project be selected for sharing, you will receive an email from us containing publishing treatment options.
