Live. Love. Live
On writing, worrying, and welcoming
It’s 6:49 AM on a Monday. I’ve never stared at a screen so long. And for someone whose life has been about facing paragraphs and finding the right words, this isn’t exactly the way I pictured myself writing the first entry in pages I’ve long dreamt of binding. Why am I putting this out in 2026, at the age of 27, a time in my life where I have come to see how failure is probable and reading is slowly finding its way into a doomscrolling-designed coffin? The only answer I had for myself is that our stories demand to be told.
Weeks before this moment I was sitting at an event where women-led spaces talked about making things happen. Of everything said at the time, two things lingered: 1) seeing a gap wherever in the world only means you have the opportunity to fill in; 2) DO IT SCARED. I’ve long wanted to read stories of women and queer people thriving. Finding magic in the mundane. Moving beyond labels and definitions. Women and queer people proving that girls and gays can break out and break free despite the boundaries society continues to draw. Gays and girls who, no matter how life persists to be bleak, find warmth.
Type B started as a small zine in 2024 in an attempt to hold space for such narratives, with four issues to its name since. No spectacle or whatsoever. We’ve done a community issue, a publishing issue, a coffee-inspired special stir, and a bit of a personal tell-all of growing up queer. All to show that we relate to one another. All because the magic of community could very well be our adult fairytale.
With this website, we aim to continue.
Past the algorithm, the intersections of our stories—from the pages of our journals to our found safe corners—hold weight not solely because the struggle is real, but because it is shared. And so is love. And hope, And joy! Our queerness, our womanhood, and the constant effort to insist on our existence and our rights and desires cut through the pains of everyday simply because we are here. We remain present. We keep on fighting. And by sharing the narratives we’ve lived and hope to play roles in, we unconsciously allow others to see our light and help them maintain a steady ray of their own.
After all, what right does doubt have to insist that something shaped out of love shall perish? It’s easy to succumb to the thought that the work we do is nothing, for we could very well dismiss everything and care less. But giving a damn is far more consuming than giving up. And there are spaces and people who’d pour their hearts out just to fill in what’s missing. Isn’t that worth documenting?
For what would life be without sharing and taking part? And what a lonely universe to be in without testaments to remind us of why being here and being seen is worthwhile.
(Also, I am so, so terrified of putting this out. I guess it’s on the right track, then?)
So here’s our site for more stories. A space where we’re not supporting characters to someone else’s chapters. Where the only thing asked of us is to simply be. Where queer people can giggle and be giddy all because they are loved for who they are. Where women can take charge and take breaks. Where young girls and gays can stop by and say, “Hey, that could be me one day.” Where narratives can be both silly and sentimental. A way to feel connected behind the cursor. A hive for sweet things that stick! A hope for people to get back to reading!!
Also, no tolerance for AI! No banning of the em dash or certain words or formats just because the internet says they’re AI’s signature. Type B is us claiming our space, our identities, our words, our creativity, and our belief in reading(!!). In these pages we narrate and document the beautiful and painful truths we live with today, so that little gays and girls rest assured that it’s all going to be okay. Most of us may not have been able to grow up as ourselves, but it doesn’t mean they (and we no longer) can’t.
Ultimately, the goal of this website is to see YOU. Your thoughts. Your hopes and dreams. Your words, your works. Submit to the site when you can! Discover gays and girls who are putting in the work. Get updated on community events! Or share something you’ve read to a friend. Just.. take up this space! It will be our own little corner of the internet.
I guess that’s all for now? Nice to meet you?
Ah, scratch that. Welcome home. See you on the next page.
